#New Designers, London

so after my final term as a first year Fashion Design Student at Falmouth University, ive had questions asked which i couldn't answer and i thought it was time to find out!  i've been seriously thinking about my future and what i would like to do after University!  There are so many options to think about.

I took a trip up to New Designers Graduate Show in London last week,  it was crazily inspiring and amazing to see current graduates work from all over the country displayed for visitors to view.  I've noticed since starting uni and having 2 best friend who study Textlie Design that i am definately drawn to print.  As well as my love for Mary Katrantzou and Peter Pilotto.

One of the designers thats display really caught my attention was Kerry Anne Long. Her Psychedelic Geometric Concept was really something different.  Looking origami and and fabric manipulation to inspire her project and prints one of her final garments was really very beautiful.

#Term as a Fashion Student at Falmouth

Second term at uni is coming to an end.  i cannot believe how quickly the term has gone, its insane!! so much has happened in 10 weeks! Denim Project, Research, Design, Make & Crit, Yoga Brief, Research, Design, Make & Crit, London Fashion Week, Collaborations with Fashion Photography, and House hunting for next year with my best friend!  its been insane, it really has.

Before starting uni everyone i spoke to about doing fashion design said how intense the course was and how fast paced everything was.  i have never heard such truer words spoke.  no matter how much someone tells you how intense it is, you can't ever prepare yourself enough.  there is never enough hours in the day to do everything, its usually the socialising that takes a side track unfortunately.  but i have found you are never ever bored!  its impossible.  we have just finished our 2nd major project of the term and found out we don't have an easter project, which came as a massive shock.  meaning 4 weeks of nothing.  in a weirdly nerdy way im kind of disappointed   i like being occupied i dont like doing nothing, but im sure i can find something to do :)

But for now im just going chill in my last few days of term and make the most of being in sunny Falmouth.  Maybe even pop to the beach tomorrow afternoon,  i definitely dont take enough advantage of being so near to the sea.

Uni post #1

Ive been in uni 4 months nearly and i havent posted anything work related yet! We're currently working on a denim project, with the outcome to make a pair of "5 pocket jeans". My concept is "beautiful decay" looking at decaying objects and sufaces that still appear beautiful to the eye. Also the brand i decided to design for was the high street brand Oasis. Oasis are one of my favourite high street brands, i love their feminity in the branding and styling. Im currently in the process of making the shorts i have designed, and will be modelled by my gorgeous floor mate, sophie. Cheeky! Im really enjoying this project, i am definately more driven than the last project.  Im going to try and get some photos up when there all finished and hopefully looking gorge, but for now ive got few working progress snaps :')

Driving home for christmas!:)

Im currently on the train home for christmas from falmouth, and thought i would share a few of the gorgeous views i have experienced on my journey so far :)

Cornish Fields

Views across Plymouth Harbour.

Tuesday

Weekend in Cornwall!

Morning Sunshine, Cute Little Cottage on the Harbour, Yummiest Dessert Ever Invented, View back onto the Harbour :)

So my family have this annual family get together, and this year i did my good dead and attended the weekend, whilst killing two birds with one stone in visiting my accommodation for September.  myself and my mam & dad travelled  Friday night failing to dodge the horrific April showers we've been getting recently but arriving at my Aunties by tea time:) best time of day! i just love chilling out and relaxing with family catch-ups and reminsing!  Saturday morning i woke to this beautiful weather, making the view even more amazing, (also sunday was like this!) so a trip down to falmouth was the main reason for me going, but im so glad i did go, i think i really needed a little break from all the stresses in my everyday routine, and a weekend in Cornwall definitely perked me up.  im not a huge countryside lover, but when the sea is put in the picture, it turns into my best friend, an nothing can beat sitting by the sea just listening to the seaguls.. just praying one doesn't poop on your head!  so sunday was our designated family day, and by family day i mean going back to Boscastle for the best ice cream and sweet shop in Cornwall! their chocolate covered honeycombe.. amazeballs!  but i have also discovered that they now possibly do the best dessert ever! Malteaser and white chocolate cheesecake!  if you ever go to Boscastle, you must go to The Riverside for this delish dessert!  that was pretty much my weekend, minus the obvious shopping splurge in Falmouth, but that will be in my next post :)  wheres your ideal place? seaside? hustle and bustle of the city?

Catch Up!

i have only just realised how appalling my blog upkeep has been this week! i've been so busy with one thing or another, and also i don't feel like i've had anything to blog about! strange. i don't know if i told you guys, but i had an interview in falmouth last friday, and absolutely fell in love with the place! its so pretty and the university is amazing!  i felt that my interview went well, but you never know.. and some of the girls i got chatting to were so lovely, which made my day even more amazing!

i had a serious case of monday blues at the beginning of the week, i received an unsuccessful from UWE Bristol and my prep work seemed to be at a bit of a brick wall!, so myself and a friend made some cupcakes and watched The Time Travellers wife to de-stress a bit and cheer up :) must say, we make amaaazing cakes! might have to show you guys how i made them :)  tuesday, i still wasn't myself. i think i kind of lost a tonne of confidence in myself and lost any faith in getting a place in falmouth, after get my 2nd rejection! but 5:00pm came and BAM "UCASTrack- ucas application status notification" popped up on hotmail.  i dont think i breathed for a good 10 seconds.. but i eventually plucked up the courage to check my UCAS Track.. IM INNNNNNN!!! IM GOING TO FALMOUTH!!!!!!!! im still buzzing at the thought of going in september, im soo excited!!:D:D:D

Sorry for the shoddy images, they're off my phone.
